On 15 May 2017 Judge Mary Collins was appointed to conduct an inquiry under section 42 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (as amended) to inquire into:

(i) the storage and retention of investigation files relating to the death of Mr. James Clancy in a road traffic accident on 1 December 1987,

and

(ii) the Garda Síochána investigation into the allegations made in 2005.

 

This inquiry has now concluded and Judge Collins has submitted her report to the Minister. The Report of the Inquiry can be found here
